In Acts 2:42-47, we see that the early church's life together wasn't confined to Sunday mornings only. In the same way, our desire as a church is to encourage one another to love and good deeds throughout the week (Heb. 10:24-25). Faithful discipleship requires time. Here are some of the ways our faith family spends time together so that we can faithfully disciple one another. We would love to have you join us at one of these discipleship opportunities!
Our community groups focus on fellowship, prayer, and the study of God’s word and are open to anyone who would like to attend.
Upper-County Community Group - This group meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. There is a meal and fellowship followed by prayer and Bible-based discussion. For more information contact John at 804.381.2570..
Mid-County Community Group –This group meets the 2nd & 4th Sundays of the month. College and Career Community Group - The primary purpose of this group is to bring honor to Christ by finding our ultimate satisfaction in Him. This group will be focused on growing in our personal relationship with Christ through Bible saturated studies. This will be a group with a strong outreach focus so we are encouraging participates to invite others. The group will be meeting on the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month starting at 6:30pm at the Mallette's home. These meetings will include Bible study, fellowship, and dinner. We will also include an occasional game night and other activities. Because dinner will be served, those participating are requested to TEXT Kim at 757-784-3785 by the Tuesday before the meeting if you are coming and if you'll be bringing anyone. If you have any questions about the group please contact Scott Mallette at 757-876-1732 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parenting Book Study - On Sunday, February 19th, our church is beginning a new book study on the topic of parenting, using the book Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles that Can Radically Change Your Family by Paul Tripp. In his book, Tripp reminds us that parents are to be ambassadors of God’s grace in the lives of their children. This is a high calling and it often seems overwhelming! But our God provides us with the grace we need to do what we otherwise could not do. And God has also given us the church to help us in this vital area of our discipleship. This group will meet the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month. The time together will include fellowship, discussion, prayer, and occasionally, a meal. If you would like to know more about this group, please contact Peter at 757.897.3345.
Ladies Theological Book Study - Our Ladies Theological Book Study is currently reading through and discussing The Cry of the Soul: How Our Deepest Emotions Reveal Our Questions about God by Dan Allender and Tremper Longman . The group normally meets every 2 to 3 weeks on Tuesday nights at 6:30pm in Kim Mallette’s home. This is a great opportunity for women in our church to enjoy sweet fellowship and to grow in their knowledge of God. If you are interested in joining this group and participating in this study, or have any questions about it, please contact Sheri Coker (email@example.com).
Prayer and Praise Nights
Prayer is evidence of dependence upon God. Our church gathers the first Sunday evening of every month from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm for a time of singing and prayer. The bulk of our time is spent in prayer for our church, for other churches, and for the advance of the Gospel in our community and among the nations.
